Maybe I'm reading this last round of combat wrong, but it seems to me my golem, Defender, killed..itself? This is a defense report:

StD 3838-Stiletto uses its spiked chain and hits the chest (29 dmg), the abdomen (30 dmg) and the head (21 dmg). The wall was hit 3 times(105 dmg) and has fallen by 1 level. The dented and scarred chest finally gives in, iron bending and breaking as if it were lesser metal.
Her Defender attacks with its fist and misses once, but also hits once on the chest (9 dmg).
Her Defender is completely destroyed, its parts broken beyond repair or obliterated entirely.

Forgive me if I'm confused, but doesn't that first message about the chest giving in usually signify that I'm shutting down due to massive damage, for example:

Ribs become deadly bone shrapnel as the chest explodes.
StD 3838-Stiletto shuts down due to excessive damage.

How did I then attack? and THEN be destroyed? Shouldn't it check for that?

Yeah, the order each action within a round of combat is kinda funny. Important things are, the attacker's line is always above the defender's even though the attacks go back and forth, and messages about parts being lost go at the end of the other golem's hit readout. That's the basic part.

But 'shut down' 'cut in half' 'depelvised' and 'obliterated entirely' go at the end of the round, which is only coincidentally when they actually occurred. Then they shove the wall and spike line at the end of the attacker's hits, but before it says if the defender lost parts.

Just to make things fun, it also gives the attacks in the opposite order they happened. So that first 29 damage hit against Defender's chest? That's the one that killed it. Then it says everything else that happened that round. Then it tells you it died.
