The newspaper is live.

http://www.muelsfell.com/world/newspaper.php

This is purely for roleplaying purposes; nothing said in the newspaper will have any game effect. Assuming of course that you don't slander some other magus to the point that they attack you.

Entering new stories should be pretty self-explanatory, but I'll leave the issue of what "donations" do up to you guys to figure out. :)

Kep

PS - There is an anonymous option; I will pull that if people abuse it. Remember, I can still see who writes a story even if nobody else can.

Love it! My clan is the prime feature in the first story! At long last, eternal fame is mine. Mother will be so proud...

um...I think the paper might need a new editor...

I mean...what is a causality of war?

edit: Also I find it disappointing that you can't read the paper while working. Guess I'll just have to drink my coffee without reading....*sigh*

Seconded about not being able to read while working. :(

I got all excited when I first saw it, but had already started working for the night.

Me too... Bah! I shall have my golems sneack the newspaper to me during my boring hours of work! It shall take me about eight hours to ensure that my golems will comprehend such a complicated order... And by then I shall be finished working! But I shall have it for the next time...

I have it on good authority that the submitter of that piece has been suitably flogged. Apparently we should use well-rested people in good health instead of sleep-deprived and ill minions... I've sent a memo to the SM with this novel idea XD

Whoops, posted a suggestion about being able to read the newspaper, before spotting this thread. I know I'm meant to be busy at work, but not that busy ;)

There is no need to get someone well-rested...just get them more caffeine. ^^

It would have helped had I added the full url to the newspaper page, I'd bet. NOW it's on the worksafe list.

Clicking it after working brings me to the "you have finished working" like my workshop does - I'd like it if it didn't, the way the forums do, since it's linked from the forums page and I then have to go back to it.

It looks great! Will probably look better with more user created content.

I haven't tried the donations for fear... they might start asking for more! What does it do? Also, some stories repeat. These are usually the random ones that you've (I presume) put in as filler.

Also, how often will a new paper come out? We're on the 2nd edition now.

The grayed out stories are filler created by Arkham for that very reason (filler). As for the editions I think it is just a matter of day, it started yesterday(real time) so today is the second addition. I am thinking that once clan jobs start up we could have one or more clans in charge of running the newspaper.
Not sure what jobs to have though besides editor, to catch spelling and grammar errors (sorry, I am anal about that kind of thing), and an advice columnist or two, to make things interesting. I think it would be interesting to be able to send an advice request to the newspaper and get a response from someone else.

It seems like a newbie advice type column would be a nice feature for the paper, just toss out a new bit of wisdom everyday (like wood golems suck, for example:) Okay, maybe a little wiser than that, but stuff that wouldn't necessarily show up in their first initial walkthrough, but that is still very useful to know. IE, be very careful with your starting flesh golem, don't spend too much on resources, upgrading the artificer lab can wait, etc.

the problem with newbie advice is who knows how long it would stay on the paper and I'm not sure it would quite fit the RP of an on-going newspaper. It is a shame classifieds are limited to 80 characters, guess I should read newpapers more often.

I'm sure it could be made to fit the RP aspect if someone tried, -soandso the sage's advice for young magi, or some such. Shrug, clearly I am not really great at it, just an idea.

Edit: On further inspection, this could be what the "advice" column is intended for, or at least part of it....

Or could be something linked to one of the university clans (i.e UU or Tomu) giving advice to wannabe Magi in the realm, perhaps?

So, I find it rather amusing that the first article in the "food" section is "Magus found dead"...
