So... I've been thinking about the scoring system, and I admit I have an ignorance for how it calculates everything, but I'm fairly sure it does not work in the way I'm about to suggest. I think the scoring should relate (if only slightly), to a system that promotes exploration and changes in playing style. One of the main problems I see in this game is that it almost forces the player to act the same way every day - farming away on the same creature as it is calculated as the best thing to do... slowly building up XP and score. However to promote more interesting playing styles and discovery, I think the scoring system and maybe the XP system should be relative to the players actions. For example, if someone continually farmed the same creature, over time the score per kill would reduce as it is not particular difficult anymore (you have learnt everything you could learn from killing the creature say). If you attack a different creature your score would be higher. If you did not attack a type of creature for awhile the potential score would regenerate, if that makes sense. This would promote people into attacking things outside their area, and make things more interesting. This system is used in many games like this, and all I can say is that it works, and everyone learns a lot more, quickly. Also this would help new players catch up quicker. Thoughts? |
